NORMAN, Okla. - San Diego State's Emma Henrikson (Malmö, Sweden) is currently tied for 13th place after firing a 1-under 71 on Thursday during the opening round of the 2013 NCAA Central Regional Championships on the par-72, 6,298-yard Jimmie Austin Golf Club.

The Aztecs are also represented in individual competition at the tournament by sophomore Paige Spiranac (Scottsdale, Ariz.), who ended the day in a nine-way logjam for the 26th spot at even-par 72, while senior Christine Wong (Richmond, B.C.) finds herself in a tie for the 48th position with 16 players after carding a 2-over 74.

Despite finishing with two bogeys over her last three holes, Henrikson, the Mountain West's Freshman of the Year, sank four birdies on the day, including three on the front nine to match her lowest round of the season.

In addition, Spiranac offset six bogeys by draining six birdies of her own, including three straight on holes 2-4 during her back nine to go with another two in a row on the seventh and eighth to remain one stroke behind Henrikson and five shots behind the leader Emily Collins of host Oklahoma.

Meanwhile Wong, who is making her fourth consecutive regional appearance and first as an individual turned in a steady if unspectacular round, totaling 14 pars, three bogeys and one birdie.

The Central Regional Championships resume with second-round action on Friday, as the Aztec trio is scheduled to tee off at 12:45 p.m. CT (10:45 a.m. PT). Spiranac and Wong will be paired with Central Arkansas' Julia Roth, starting on the first hole, while Henrikson will begin at the same time on No. 10, along with Fanny Cnops of UNC Greensboro and UNC Wilmington's Lori Beth Adams.
