SAN DIEGO - San Diego State men's golfer Tom Berry (New Haw, Surrey, England) was one of 28 student-athletes named to the PING All-West Region team, as announced Tuesday by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). With his selection, the Aztec graduating senior is now eligible for PING All-America consideration and gives SDSU its ninth all-region honoree since the award was initiated in 2008.

Overall, a total of 12 schools were represented in the west, while 155 total players were honored across six regions - Northeast, East, Southeast, Midwest, Central and West.

An all-Mountain West Conference selection, Berry led the Aztecs with six top-10 finishes and a 71.79 stroke average during the 2012-13 campaign, which ranked third in the league. He also completed 12 rounds below par, including eight in the 60s. In addition, Berry received Mountain West Golfer of the Month distinction last September after capturing medalist honors at the highly competitive PING/Golfweek Preview to go along with a tie for sixth place at the season-opening Kikkor Golf Husky Invitational.

Likewise, Berry, who earned a No. 74 ranking in the latest Golfstat Cup ratings, tied for sixth at the MW Championships earlier this month and finished seventh at the Lamkin Grips San Diego Classic in March, helping the Aztecs claim their lone tournament title of the year.

Under the direction of 10th-year head coach Ryan Donovan, San Diego State ended the 2012-13 season by making its 15th consecutive regional appearance, where it fell in a hard-luck playoff to Ball State for the right to advance to the NCAA Championships.
