LOUISVILLE, Ky. - A school-record four San Diego State softball players have been named to the all-NFCA West Region teams, the NFCA announced today. Juniors Lorena Bauer (San Diego/Steele Canyon HS) and Patrice Jackson (Kansas City, Mo.) were first-team selections, while seniors Rebecca Arbino (Clovis, Calif.) and Kamerin May (Corona, Calif.) earned second-team accolades.

The Aztecs' four all-west region selections matched UCLA for the second most in the region, trailing only Arizona State's six picks. SDSU and ASU could meet as early as Saturday in the NCAA Tempe Regional. It was also the first time in program history that San Diego State had two first-team all-region picks.

Bauer made the all-region squad as a designated player/utility-non-pitcher after batting .421 with 13 home runs and 49 RBIs heading into the NCAA tournament. Bauer, who on Tuesday was named to the all-Mountain West team, is tied for 10th in the country in doubles (18), 22nd in slugging percentage (.805) and 36th in batting average. Among the Aztec single-season leaders, Bauer is tied for first in RBIs, second in batting average, slugging percentage, OPS percentage (1.282), extra-base hits (33), doubles (18) and total bases (128), and tied for fourth in home runs.

Jackson was selected to the all-region team as an outfielder after being named the MW Player of the Year on Tuesday. This year, Jackson is batting .368 with 16 homers, 41 RBIs and 35 runs. She ranks in a tie for 31st in the nation in home runs and is tied for 45th with a .750 slugging percentage. Jackson's 16 homers are the second most in a season in program history. She's also third in slugging percentage, OPS percentage (1.209), extra-base hits (26) and total bases (114), and tied for fifth in RBIs.

Arbino made the second team after posting a 20-12 record with a 1.96 ERA over 207 1/3 innings. The right-hander has recorded 196 strikeouts against 33 walks, while limiting the opposition to a .235 average. Arbino, who was named the MW Pitcher of the Year on Tuesday and was an all-league pick, is ranked 23rd in the country with just 1.11 walks per seven innings. Among the single-season program bests, she is tied for sixth in wins, seventh in strikeout-to-walk ratio (5.94), ninth in strikeouts, tied for ninth in total shutouts (9) and tied for ninth in saves (2).

May joined Arbino on the second team at first base. This year, May is hitting .318 with three home runs and 25 RBIs and 15 runs. She has set career single-season highs in batting average, at-bats (153), hits (50), triples (2), RBIs, slugging percentage (.446), walks (11), on-base percentage (.371), sacrifice flies (3) and sacrifice bunts (7), while starting all 53 games at first base.

SDSU (35-18) plays rv/No. 21 Georgia (38-19) at 12:30 p.m. PT Friday in Tempe, Ariz. The No. 5 overall seed and No. 4/4 Arizona State (45-10) and San Jose State (42-15) will follow at 3 p.m. PT in the double-elimination regional. The entire NCAA Tempe Regional will be broadcast live on ESPNU.
