SAN DIEGO, Calif. - San Diego State got a complete-game effort from senior Ryan Doran and Ryan Muno drove in four runs as the Aztecs defeated Air Force, 7-2, Saturday afternoon at Tony Gwynn Stadium. With the victory SDSU evened its record at 25-25 overall and remained in third place in the conference standings at 14-12.

Over his nine innings of work, Doran surrendered two runs on seven hits with two walks and seven strikeouts. In the process he improved his record to 7-2 on the year while lowering his earned run average to 2.83 (2.43 in league play). Muno, meanwhile, had a pair of RBI singles along with a two-run homer, his team-leading fourth of the year.

The Falcons got on the board first with a run in the top of the third. A hit batter and walk set the stage for a two-out run-scoring double by Seth Kline. An ensuing walk loaded the bases, but Doran got a fly ball third out to escape further damage.

The Aztecs wasted little time tying the game as they came back with a run of their own in the bottom of the inning. A double by Greg Allen was cashed in by Muno, whose single up the middle knotted the score at 1-1.

Two innings later SDSU took the lead for good with a three-run rally. Justin Gheorghe led off with a single and stole second before scoring on Tim Zier's double to left center. Muno then homered to left to give the home side a 4-1 advantage.

Air Force cut the deficit to two with a run in the top of the sixth, but the Aztecs added two in the seventh on an RBI triple by Evan Potter and Muno's second run-scoring single. They then made it 7-2 in the bottom of the eighth on Potter's single that drove in Ty France, who had been hit by pitch to lead off the frame.

In addition to Muno recording three hits, Potter and Gheorghe finished with two apiece with Potter driving in two and Gheorghe scoring twice.

Air Force and San Diego State will play the rubber game of their three-game series on Sunday, May 12, at 1:00 p.m. (PT) at Tony Gwynn Stadium.
