NORMAN, Okla. - Three San Diego State women's golfers remain in the top half of the individual leaderboard following Friday's second round of the 2013 NCAA Central Regional. The Aztecs were led by Paige Spiranac (Scottsdale, Ariz.), who climbed two spots from the previous day into a tie for 24th place after firing a 3-over 75 at the par-72, 6,298-yard Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club.

Spiranac got off to a slow start, recording a double-bogey on the second hole followed by a pair of bogeys at No. 7 and No. 9. However, the SDSU sophomore regrouped, shooting 1-under on the back nine, featuring eight pars and a birdie on the par-4 14th to finish with a two-day total of 3-over 147.

Conversely, Christine Wong (Richmond, B.C.) slipped six places into a tie for 54th at 6-over 150 after carding a second-round 76. The Aztec senior was even at the turn, offsetting a bogey at No. 3 with a birdie on the par-3 6th, before experiencing difficulty on the back nine. Despite sinking another birdie on the par-5 13th, Wong was unable to overcome a double-bogey at No. 10 and three additional bogeys on holes 12, 15 and 17.

Meanwhile, Emma Henrikson (Malmö, Sweden) suffered a more precipitous drop, falling from the 13th position into a tie for 61st at 7-over 151 after posting an 80 on Friday. The Aztec freshman was plagued by a triple-bogey on her second hole, the par-4 11th, followed by a double-bogey on the par-3 No. 2. Despite the rough stretch, which included four additional bogeys, Henrikson finished strong with four pars, along with a birdie on the par-5 8th.

Spiranac, Wong and Henrikson represent three of six players who received individual bids to the Central Regional. In addition, 24 teams were selected to play in the Central Region for a total of 126 golfers. The top eight teams and top two individuals (on non-advancing squads) from each regional will make a trip to the finals, slated for May 21-24, in Athens, Ga. Host Oklahoma (-7) jumped two places from Thursday to open up a six-stroke advantage over Duke (-1) in the team standings, while the Sooners' Emily Collins (-7) maintained her perch atop the individual leaderboard with a slim one-shot lead over Ally McDonald of Mississippi State (-6).

The Central Regional Championships conclude with final-round action on Saturday, as the Aztec trio is scheduled to tee off at 8:25 a.m. CT (6:25 PT). Wong and Henriksen will be paired with Fanny Cnops of UNC Greensboro, beginning on the 10th hole, while Spiranac will start at the same time on No. 1, along with UNC Wilmington's Lori Beth Adams and Julia Roth of Central Arkansas.
