Softball Beats Nevada, 8-1, for 13th Straight Win

RENO, Nev. - The San Diego State softball tied a school record with its 13th straight victory in an 8-1 win over Nevada Saturday afternoon in Reno, Nev. The Aztecs (25-12, 5-0 Mountain West), who are receiving votes in the latest ESPN.com/USA Softball poll, have now won 13 consecutive games on four occasions (also 2003, 2006 and 2011).

Senior Kristin May (Corona, Calif.) and juniors Lorena Bauer (San Diego/Steele Canyon HS) and Patrice Jackson (Kansas City, Mo.) each homered for SDSU, which outhit the Wolf Pack (22-18, 1-4 MW), 13-4.

Bauer finished with three hits, while Jackson homered, doubled and scored three runs. Kristin May (two RBIs) and sophomore Kayla Jordan (San Diego/Bonita Vista HS) (RBI) each added two hits apiece.

Other RBIs on the day by San Diego State went to senior Kamerin May (Corona, Calif.) and freshman Monica Downey (San Diego/Madison HS).

The Aztecs scored once in the top of the second inning, two in the fourth, three in the fifth and two in the seventh.

The offense was plenty for freshman left-hander Danielle O'Toole (Upland, Calif.), who allowed one run on just four hits and two walks over seven innings. She had four strikeouts and is now 10-5 on the season.

SDSU and Nevada wrap up the three-game series at 1 p.m. PT Sunday.

NOTES: The last three times San Diego State had a 13-game winning streak (2003, 2006 and 2011) it made the NCAA tournament ... The Aztecs are outscoring the opposition by 60 runs (81-21) over the win streak ... SDSU is now 13-2 all-time against the Wolf Pack ... San Diego State improved to 18-0 this year when leading after five innings, 22-2 when outhitting its opponent, 22-4 when scoring first and 25-5 when leading at any point in the game ... DP Lorena Bauer and RF Patrice Jackson each had their 15th multi-hit game of the season, which leads the team, while LF Kayla Jordan recorded her 13th (third on team) and C Kristin May had her eighth ... Jackson also recorded her fourth multi-run contest of the year (second on team) ... May had her third multi-RBI game of the season ... LHP Danielle O'Toole gave up a solo homer to Megan Fincher with one out in the third, her first allowed this season. She had gone 104 innings without giving up a home run prior to Fincher's homer.
