PHILADELPHIA - The 21st-ranked San Diego State track and field team posted the fastest 4x400-meter relay time in the Mountain West this season Thursday at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia.
The quartet of Allison Reaser, Deyna Roberson, LaQuisha Jackson and Renetia James placed 11th out of 79 teams with a time of 3 minutes, 41.35 seconds. The 3:41.35 qualified the team for Saturday's College Final at 5:35 p.m. ET. Texas A&M won Thursday's heats in 3:34.72.
Earlier in the day, Roberson finished 13th out of 63 entrants in the 400-meter hurdles championships with a time of 1:00.32. Johnson S. Smith's Samantha Elliott won the race in 57.64 seconds.
Shanieka Thomas kicks things off for the Aztecs at 10 a.m. ET tomorrow in the triple jump championship, while Jasmine Burrell, Alexa Evans and Mikaya Howden start the hammer invitational at the Triton Invitational (La Jolla, Calif.) at 10 a.m. PT.
