REDWOOD CITY, Calif. - The San Diego State women's rowing team found success once again at the NorCal/SoCal Challenge, taking first in the Second Varisty 8 on Sunday morning in at the Redwood Shores Lagoon. The Aztecs raced Saint Mary's on Sunday, after sweeping UC Davis and Santa Clara on Saturday.

Competition got underway on Sunday at 10:30 am with the Varsity 8 race. The Gaels would take first, just edging SDSU with a time of six minutes, 56.9 seconds. The second duel of the morning came in the Second Varsity 8 race where the Aztecs took first, defeating Saint Mary's, clocking in at 7:09.6. The final showdown of the annual event came at 10:50 am when San Diego State came in behind the Gaels' `A' boat and beat out Saint Mary's `B' boat, at 8:15.8.

"The team had a great weekend overall," said head coach Alison Abrams. "I'm glad we were able to get in some competitive races before traveling to WIRAs."

Up next, the Aztecs will hit the road to Sacramento, Calif., to compete in the WIRA Championships, beginning on April 27.
