BOISE, Idaho - Junior Patrice Jackson (Kansas City, Mo.) homered to lead off the top of the eighth inning to give the San Diego State softball team a 3-2 extra-inning victory and doubleheader split against Boise State Saturday in Boise, Idaho. The Aztecs (28-15, 6-2 Mountain West) dropped the opener, 5-3, to the Broncos (18-23-1, 2-6 MW) on a walkoff three-run home run by Sarah Barnes.

Jackson took a 2-0 pitch over the left-center field fence, her team-leading 12th of the season, and senior right-hander Rebecca Arbino (Clovis, Calif.) shut out BSU in the bottom half to give SDSU the 3-2 win in the nightcap.

Junior Lorena Bauer (San Diego/Steele Canyon HS) capped an impressive day by homering twice as San Diego State scored all three of its runs in the second game on homers. Bauer had a two-out home run in the fourth to tie the game at 1-1 and another two-out homer in the sixth to give the Aztecs a 2-1 lead. She finished the doubleheader 5-for-7 with two home runs, three RBIs and two doubles.

Boise State took a 1-0 lead in the third when Tara Glover's single scored Ashley Palmer.

After Bauer's two solo homers, the Broncos tied the game in the seventh as Mackenzie Whyte's two-out single plated Jordan Kreiger. With runners on the corner, SDSU freshman left-hander Danielle O'Toole (Upland, Calif.) got Makenna Weir to ground out to second base to end the threat, setting up Jackson's game-winning home run in the eighth.

O'Toole (11-6) got the win after allowing two runs on nine hits and a walk over seven innings, while striking out four. Arbino picked up her second save of the season with one hit given up in an inning and two strikeouts.

Senior Kristin May (Corona, Calif.) doubled and walked, while senior Kamerin May (Corona, Calif.) singled and drew a walk.

In the opener, Barnes hit a walkoff three-run homer with two outs in the bottom of the seventh to give Boise State the 5-3 win. It was the second of the game for Barnes, who also had a leadoff one in the sixth.

San Diego State took the early 1-0 lead in the first when Bauer doubled in sophomore Kayla Jordan (San Diego/Bonita Vista HS).

The Broncos tied it in the third on a RBI single by Weir that scored Holly Bourke.

In the fourth, Bauer led off with a double and was replaced by junior Dominique Dinner (Monterey, Calif.). Kamerin May followed with a double to put the Aztecs up, 2-1.

SDSU made it 3-1 in the sixth as sophomore Jacki Campa (La Verne, Calif.) scored on a BSU error.

That set up Barnes' leadoff homer in the sixth and three-run walkoff in the seventh.

Bauer was 3-for-3 with an RBI and two doubles to pace the San Diego State offense, while Kamerin May added two hits.

O'Toole was saddled with the loss after allowing two runs on two hits in 2/3 innings. Arbino pitched the first six innings, scattering three runs on nine hits and no walks, while striking out six.
