SAN DIEGO - The No. 42 San Diego State Men's Tennis team fought off rival No. 61 New Mexico, 4-3, on Sunday at Aztec Tennis Center to remain unbeaten in Mountain West Conference play.

SDSU (17-7, 5-0 MW) swept three doubles matches to earn the doubles point, and held off a New Mexico rally in singles play to seal its fourth-straight dual-match victory.

Senior Derek Siddiqui and junior Shiva Sangwan began the day by defeating Jadon Phillips and Samir Iftikhar, 8-2, while junior Hunter Nicholas and sophomore Thorsten Bertsch followed with a victory over Conor Berg and Andrew Van Der Vyver, 8-4, to clinch the doubles point. Sophomore Andranik Khachatryan and freshman Marvin Tawasi added a win against Mads Hegelund and James Hignett, 7-5, to complete the sweep in doubles play.

After Khachatryan lost to Van Der Vyver, 6-2, 6-0, and No. 108 Bertsch fell against Phillips, 6-2, 7-6 (5), to begin singles play, the Aztecs responded to win three of the last four singles matches to get the win.

Tawasi topped Mitch McDaniels, 6-1, 6-4, to tie the score, 2-2, and Nicholas' victory against Iftikhar, 6-4, 7-6 (2), put the Aztecs one win away from clinching the match. No. 109 Siddiqui, in his final home match at Aztec Tennis Center, sealed the victory for SDSU by earning a three-set decision over Berg, 6-3, 1-6, 6-3.

The Aztecs return to action on April 23, as they conclude MW play at Nevada.
