Bruin Wave Invite Final Results in PDF Format
TARZANA, Calif. - San Diego State freshman Emma Henrikson (Malmö, Sweden) tied for 16th place on the individual leaderboard Tuesday to lead the Aztec women's golf team during the final round of the Bruin Wave Invitational in Tarzana, Calif. Henrikson jumped five places after carding her lowest score of the tournament with a 74 to finish at 12-over 228 on the par-72, 6,131-yard El Caballero Country Club.
As a team, SDSU dropped one spot into the ninth position after recording a 316 over the final 18 holes for a combined 83-over 947, edging Denver (+86) and.UNLV (+86) by three shots. Aztec sophomore transfer Paige Spiranac (Scottsdale, Ariz.), who entered the day tied with Henriksen, was unable to crack the top-20, slipping two places into a tie for 23rd after logging a final-round 78 for a combined 15-over 231.
Despite settling for a 79 over the final 18 holes, senior Christine Wong (Richmond, British Columbia) managed to moved up five slots into a tie for 42nd at 24-over 240. However, sophomore Amy Alston (Mission Viejo, Calif.) lost ground on Tuesday, tumbling 12 places into a tie for the 65th at 34-over 250 after a final-round struggle of 88.
Rounding out the SDSU delegation were junior Rebecca Schneider (Cave Creek, Ariz.), an individual competitor who finished at 37-over 253 to tie for 69th, and fellow classmate Maureen Dunnagan (Lexington, S.C.), who ended the tournament in 76th with a combined compete43-over 259.
USC's Annie Park (-1) took home medalist honors over Marissa Chow of Pepperdine (+3) and Tiffany Lua of UCLA (+3), as the Women of Troy (+20) rallied to capture the team title by two strokes over the co-host Bruins (+22). Arizona (+32), meanwhile, finished 12 shots back to claim third place, easily outdistancing Pepperdine (+58), the tournament's other co-host, and Oregon State (+60).
The Aztecs will return to the course next week when they head east for the SunTrust Gator Invitational, March 15-17, in Gainesville, Fla.
