INDIANAPLOIS, Ind. - San Diego State swimmers completed the second day at the NCAA Championships in Indianapolis and although no Azteca were able to advance to the finals, there were a number of excellent performances turned in during the prelims.

The SDSU 200 medley relay foursome of Chelsea Bailey, Katelyn Weddle, Gemma Johnson and Whitney Weisz went 1:39.88 to finish 27th among the teams competing at the met. Their time was just under two second off the school record time that the quartet turned in at the recent Mountain West Championships.

Three Aztecs also swam in individual races Friday morning. Senior Katelyn Weddle was 28th overall in the 100 breaststroke with a mark of 1:00.89. Her time was .60 second off the SDSU school record that she set during her freshman year.

In the 100 backstroke, Leona Jennings finished in 39th place after swimming a 53.81. That time was just .23 second off the Aztec record that she established as a sophomore.

SDSU' third individual competitor, Mikaela Macklin, was 32nd in the 400 individual medley after finishing with a time of 4:14.14.

Action at the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships continues on Saturday (March 23) with prelims getting underway at 11:00 a.m. (ET) and the finals session commencing at 7:00 p.m. (ET).

Three SDSU swimmers will be in action Saturday in two individual events. The individual competitors include Katelyn Weddle and Mikaela Macklin in the 200 breaststroke along with Leona Jennings in the 200 backstroke.
