FRESNO, Calif. - Just as it did in its last series, the San Diego State baseball team came up on the short end of a pitchers' duel as it fell at Fresno State, 1-0, Friday night at the Bulldogs' Beiden Stadium. The loss was the sixth straight for SDSU as it fell to 7-11 overall and 0-1 in the Mountain West.

For his second straight start, Aztec sophomore Michael Cederoth came up on the short end of the decision as the SDSU offense was unable to solve Fresno State starter Tyler Linehan. Cederoth went eight innings allowing the lone run on eight hits with a pair of walks and six strikeouts. Despite that effort he was saddled with the loss and saw his record drop to 1-3 on the season.

Linehan, meanwhile, tossed a complete game scattering eight hits while walking two and striking out seven. In doing so he picked up his first win of the year to improve to 1-3.

The lone run of the contest came in the bottom of the sixth. With two out, the Bulldogs (4-12; 1-0 MW) got singles from Austin Wynns and Chris Mariscal followed by an RBI double by Taylor Ward.

San Diego State had at least one base runner is every inning except the fourth, but did not have a man reach third base over the course of the game. Their best chance came in the top of the sixth when Greg Allen and Tim Zier singled to put runners at first and second with one out, but a strikeout and fielder's choice ended the threat.

Allen finished the night with two hits as did teammates Jake Romanski and Evan Potter as the threesome accounted for six of SDSU's eight hits on the evening.

San Diego State and Fresno State continue their three-game weekend series on Saturday (March 16) with a contest scheduled for a 6:35 p.m. start
