CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif. - The San Diego State softball team dropped a 3-1 decision to No. 9/11 Oregon Sunday at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic in Cathedral City, Calif. The Aztecs are now 8-7 this year with five of their losses coming against nationally ranked schools.

SDSU was held to just three hits by Duck (14-3) pitcher Jessica Moore. Moore allowed one run on three hits and two walks over seven innings, while striking out 10.

Oregon got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the third inning when Janie Takeda singled home Courtney Ceo.

The Ducks added to their lead in the fifth on a two-run homer by Kaylan Howard.

San Diego State scored its run in the sixth when sophomore Kayla Jordan (San Diego/Bonita Vista HS) doubled down the right field line and scored on a single by senior Kamerin May (Corona, Calif.).

Earlier in the fifth, the Aztecs had runners on the corners with one out, but struck out swinging in back-to-back at-bats to end the threat.

Redshirt junior Patrice Jackson (Kansas City, Mo.) had SDSU's other hit, a leadoff single in the seventh, while juniors Lorena Bauer (San Diego/Steele Canyon HS) and Katie Mathis (Green Valley, Calif.) each drew walks.

Redshirt senior Rebecca Arbino (Clovis, Calif.) took the loss after yielding three runs seven hits (six singles) over six innings. The right-hander struck out five without issuing a walk and is now 6-4 on the season.

San Diego State co-hosts the San Diego Classic I this weekend, beginning with a Thursday game vs. Brigham Young at 6 p.m. PT.
