CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif. - Freshman Danielle O'Toole (Upland, Calif.) tossed a complete game three-hit shutout and sophomore Kayla Jordan (San Diego/Bonita Vista HS) was 3-for-3 with three runs to lead the San Diego State softball team to a 5-0 win over Ohio State Saturday at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic in Cathedral City, Calif. The Aztecs improved to 8-6 with their second straight shutout, while the Buckeyes dropped to 9-5.

O'Toole (2-3) allowed just three hits (two singles) and two walks over seven innings, while striking out three. The left-hander lowered her season ERA to 1.35 and has now yielded just one earned run over her past 24 innings (0.38 ERA).

SDSU gave O'Toole plenty of offense with five runs on nine hits and six walks.

San Diego State put up two runs in the top of the first when Jordan scored on a single by junior Lorena Bauer (San Diego/Steele Canyon HS) and freshman Leia Ruiz (Chino, Calif.) later scored on a throwing error by the OSU catcher.

Jordan and Ruiz would score the Aztecs' third and fourth runs in the third as well. Jordan scored once again on a single by Bauer, while senior Kristin May (Corona, Calif.) plated Ruiz with a single through the left side.

Jordan added another run in the fourth, SDSU's final run of the game, on a single by senior Kamerin May (Corona, Calif.).

Jordan finished the game 3-for-3 with three runs, a double, two stolen bases and a walk. Bauer had two RBI singles and drew a walk, while Ruiz scored a pair of runs.

San Diego State finishes up its play in the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic Sunday with a game vs. No. 9/11 Oregon at 2 p.m. PT.
