SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State softball team used a season-high 14 hits and a solid pitching performance from freshman Danielle O'Toole (Upland, Calif.) to run-rule UC Riverside, 9-1, in six innings on the final day of the 23rd annual Campbell/Cartier Classic Sunday at SDSU Softball Stadium. The Aztecs, who are receiving votes in the latest ESPN.com/USA Softball poll, improved to 6-4 with their third consecutive win.

SDSU also set season-best marks in runs, RBIs (8), home runs (3) and total bases (26).

Sophomore Kayla Jordan (San Diego/Bonita Vista HS) led the San Diego State attack with a 4-for-4 outing, falling a double short of the cycle. Jordan tripled to lead off the game, had an RBI single in the second and fourth inning, respectively, and a solo homer in the sixth. She also added a stolen base.

Freshman Monica Downey (San Diego/Madison HS) had her second three-hit game of the young season and scored two runs, while redshirt freshman Victoria Kobold (Concord, Calif.) had the first two hits of her career and scored a run.

Junior Lorena Bauer (San Diego/Steele Canyon HS) (2-for-4, three RBIs, run) and senior Kamerin May (Corona, Calif.) (1-for-4, two runs, RBI) each added homers for the Aztecs, who outhit the Highlanders (2-7), 14-3, in the contest.

The offense was plenty for O'Toole (1-2), who picked up her first career collegiate victory after allowing one unearned run on three hits and a walk over six innings. She struck out four, while limiting UCR to a .150 average (3-for-20) on the day.

SDSU scored two runs in the first and again in the second, before UC Riverside scored its lone run in the third. San Diego State then tacked on three more in the fourth and the final two in the sixth for its first run-rule win of the season.

The Aztecs, who have already played three nationally ranked teams this year and five who made last year's NCAA tournament, travel to the competitive Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic next weekend in Cathedral City, Calif. SDSU is scheduled to play Missouri (5:30 p.m. PT) and Virginia (8 p.m. PT) on Thursday (Feb. 21), Syracuse (6 p.m. PT) on Friday (Feb. 22), Ohio State (12:30 p.m. PT) on Saturday and Oregon (2 p.m. PT) on Sunday.
