DELAND, Fla. - The San Diego State Lacrosse team picked up its first victory of the season on Sunday, defeating Stetson on the road, 18-1.
Sophomore Michaela Jarvis and freshman Katie Gill scored three goals apiece for the Aztecs (1-1), who had a commanding 12-0 lead at halftime. Jarvis and sophomore Lauren Maack each added two assists, while Bailey Ewing finished with two goals. SDSU allowed only four shots on goal the entire game, as freshman Andrea Killebrew caused two turnovers, sophomore Madison Wallace recorded three ground balls and junior Sarah Tucker led the Aztecs with four saves.
The Aztecs took the lead for good just 14 seconds into the game on Maack's goal off Jarvis' assist, and Jarvis scored her first goal of the game just over a minute later off a pass from Ewing. Sophomore Madison Formwalt's score made it 3-0, and three-consecutive unassisted goals by Gill later in the half gave SDSU a comfortable 10-0 advantage.
The Aztecs return to action this Friday, Feb. 22, in their home opener against Saint Mary's beginning at 7 p.m. PT at Aztec Lacrosse Field. Admission to the game is free.
