San Diego State's Emma Henrikson (Malmo, Sweden) fired an even-par 144 on Monday to lead the Aztec women's golf team during the first two rounds of The Gold Rush presented by Farmers Insurance at the 6,077-yard, par-72 Yorba Linda Country Club. With her performance, Henrikson sits atop the individual leaderboard by three strokes in the field of 65 golfers.

As a team, the 84th-ranked Aztecs occupy the No. 3 position out of 11 schools after finishing with a combined 623 (+47). SDSU trails leader and host Long Beach State (611, (+35)) by 12 strokes and is six shots in back of second-place Gonzaga (617, (+41)).

Henrikson opened with a 1-under 71, the second-lowest round of the day, before carding a 1-over 73 in the afternoon session. The SDSU freshman managed to offset nine bogeys with a tournament-leading nine birdies, including three straight on holes 12-14 during the second round to grab a three-stroke lead over Long Beach State's Shawnee Martinez (+3) and a six-shot bulge over Ronnie Valerio of UC Irvine (+6) heading into Tuesday's final round.

Elsewhere, senior Christine Wong (Richmond, British Columbia) finds in herself in a four-way tie for 20th place after carding a 160 (+16), while sophomores Kristina Lynn (Carlsbad, Calif.) and Paige Spiranac (Scottsdale, Ariz.) are tied for the 25th spot at 161 (+17) with five other golfers. Lynn's second round was highlighted by an ace on the 147-yard, par-3 13th hole after she drained a birdie on the 382-yard, par-4 12th.

Rounding out the Aztec contingent was junior Rebecca Schneider (Cave Creek, Ariz.), who ended the day in the 62nd spot at 176 (+32). SDSU also had two golfers compete as individuals, including sophomore Amy Alston (Mission Viejo, Calif.), who sits in a tie for 43rd at 165 (+21), while junior Maureen Dunnagan is in 63rd after posting a 181 (+37).
