SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State men's soccer program will "Light the Night" on Friday, Sept. 7, when it plays host to Houston Baptist at 7 p.m. PT. The fixture will be the first game played under the lights at Montezuma Road in men's program history.
"Light the Night" is just part of a festivity-filled Alumni, Family and Friends Weekend for the Aztec men's soccer team. At halftime of the HBU-SDSU contest, San Diego State will play host and honor the 1987 team that played in the NCAA championship game as they return to campus for their 25-year reunion.
On Saturday, Sept. 8, the 1987 NCAA finalists and all Aztec men's soccer alumni are invited to play in the annual alumni game. The tilt is slated for an 11 a.m. PT start at SDSU Sports Deck at Montezuma Road.
The weekend, which also doubles as the Courtyard Marriott San Diego Central Soccer Tournament, will conclude on Sunday, Sept. 9, at 1 p.m. PT when San Diego State welcomes perennial power Ohio State to Montezuma Mesa. The Buckeyes were 10-7-2 in 2011 and have made the NCAA Tournament eight times since 2000.
Fans are encouraged to help the Aztecs "Stack the Deck" and admission to all home games is free.
