COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - San Diego State guard Courtney Clements (Long Beach, Calif.) was named the Mountain West Women's Basketball Player of the Week for her performances in last weekend's games vs. Auburn and Colorado. With her award, the Aztec senior garnered the fourth weekly MW accolade of her career.
Clements led SDSU to a 1-1 record and earned all-tournament honors at the Omni Hotels Classic in Boulder, Colo. In the Aztecs' 78-57 victory against Auburn on Nov. 23, Clements was the game's high scorer with a season-best 26 points, including six 3-pointers to go along with five boards, three steals and an assist. Against Colorado in the tournament championship the following night, Clements was once again the high scorer in the game with 19 points on a 9-of-17 (.529) effort from the floor in the 67-53 loss.
For the week, Clements averaged 22.5 points and 3.0 rebounds per game while shooting .475 (19-of-40) from the field, including a 7-of-17 clip from beyond the 3-point arc. With her production, Clements has now reached double-digit scoring figures in five of six games this season and 33 of her last 38 outings dating back to last year.
SDSU returns to the court on Friday, Nov. 30, when it plays host to USC at Viejas Arena. Opening tip is set for 7 p.m.
