SAN DIEGO - San Diego State women's golf head coach Leslie Spalding announced today the signing of Sirene Blair (South Jordan, Utah/ Bingham HS) to a National Letter of Intent. Blair will join SDSU in the fall of 2013.
"I'm thrilled to welcome Sirene to the Aztec family," Spalding said. "She will be a huge force for us in the coming years and will add consistency with huge upside."
A senior at Bingham High School, Blair is a three-time 5A Individual State Champion after winning consecutive titles at Glendale Golf Course in 2009 and '10 with scores of 67 and 68, respectively. This past season, Blair carded a 74 at Wasatch Mountain Golf Course to take the individual crown.
For the past seven years, Blair has participated in the Utah Junior Golf Association and garnered UJGA Player-of-the-Year honors on six occasions. Additionally, she has taken part in numerous national events, highlighted by five appearances in the Callaway Junior World Championship. In 2012, she tied for 30th at the Callaway event, which was held at Torrey Pines North Course.
Blair's other top national finishes include a tied-for-sixth-place effort at the 2012 Girls Junior Americas Cup held in Maui, Hawaii, a tied-for-seventh performance at the 2011 BIG 1 National Championship and a tied-for-17th showing at the 2010 PGA Girls Junior Championship.
