SAN DIEGO - Courtney Clements scored a season-high 25 points and the San Diego State women's basketball team held Cal State Dominguez Hills to 19.4 percent shooting in a 66-30 victory Sunday at Viejas Arena in San Diego.

Clements finished 10-for-16 from the field, including 4-of-9 from beyond the 3-point arc. She added six rebounds and three steals in 26 minutes. Fifteen of her 25 points came in the second half.

Khristina Hunter added a season-high 10 points, five boards and a career-high four steals for the Aztecs (2-1), while Chelsea Hopkins had nine points and a season-best nine assists. Erimma Amarikwa (five points, three steals) and Deajanae Scurry had seven rebounds apiece.

SDSU used a pressuring defense throughout the contest, forcing 26 Toro (0-1) turnovers and limiting them to a 6-for-31 effort from the floor. San Diego State held CSUDH to 17 points on 4-for-17 attempts in the first half and just 13 on 2-of-14 shots in the second half. Only one Cal State Dominguez Hills' player (Breanne Garcia) scored in double figures and nine of those 11 points came from the free-throw line.

The Aztecs broke open a five-point game by closing the first half on a 17-5 run over the final 9 minutes, 53 seconds as they headed into intermission with a 34-17 advantage.

SDSU continued its run in the second half, opening it with a 12-1 run until the first media timeout with 15:40 remaining and on top by a 46-18 margin. Clements had eight of San Diego State's 12 points in the run, including two 3-pointers

The Aztecs stretched their lead to as many as 35 at 58-23 with 11:09 left when Ahjalee Harvey made two free throws.

The Toros answered with a 6-0 run over the next 2:28, helped by five free throws by Garcia. CSUDH, however, would get no closer as SDSU claimed the 66-30 victory.

San Diego State outscored Cal State Dominguez Hills, 28-4, in the paint and had 14 more assists (18-4).

The Aztecs travel to Boulder, Colo., to compete in the 26th annual Omni Hotels Classic next weekend. SDSU is set to play Auburn in the opener at 5 p.m. MT Friday (Nov. 23) and then either host Colorado or Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Saturday (Nov. 24).
