SAN DIEGO -- San Diego State men's tennis' Andranik Khachatryan, looking for his second championship at the Aztec Fall Invitational in as many years, did just that on Sunday afternoon as the sophomore picked up a 6-4, 6-4 win over USC's Corey Smith to be named champion of the "B" Flight.
Last season, Khachatryan defeated Jose Sierra Short to win the championship in the black flight singles bracket.
Freddy Gelbrich also earned a victory for the Aztecs on Sunday, as the sophomore defeated USD's Jakob Karnopp by a score of 7-5, 6-1 in the "B" Flight consolation bracket.
The Aztecs will now prepare for the ITA Regionals in Irvine, Calif., from Oct. 19-21.
