SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The San Diego State baseball program's three-day Alumni Weekend celebration concluded Sunday with a fall game against the University of San Diego at Tony Gwynn Stadium.
The crowd enjoyed a beautiful autumn afternoon watching the teams play a 14-inning game that mixed situational hitting with game-like conditions.
The weekend's festivities began Friday morning with the annual SDSU Baseball Alumni Golf Tournament. This year's event was held at the Sycuan Resort's Oak Glen Course in El Cajon. The tournament field of nearly 90 players included alumni going back six decades.
The Muno foursome claimed top team honors in the scramble, shooting a 16-under 56. Former SDSU pitcher Stephen Strasburg defended his long drive title with a 335-yard poke on the 18th hole.
Saturday brought alumni, friends and family together again for a pregame tailgate at Qualcomm Stadium, followed by the UNLV-SDSU football game that ended with an Aztec victory.
Coming up next for the Aztecs is the annual Halloween Game, which will be played Tuesday, Oct. 30, at 6 p.m. at Tony Gwynn Stadium.
