SEATTLE -

San Diego State-Washington Final Box

The San Diego State men's soccer team had its two-game winning streak snapped on Friday night as it dropped a 2-0 decision at No. 24/19/rv Washington. The loss dips the Aztecs' record to 6-7-2 overall (0-5-1 Pac-12), while the Huskies improve to 11-3-3 (6-0-2 Pac-12).

UW wasted little time in scoring the game's first goal, which occurred in the fifth minute. Patrick Pacheco crossed the ball to Ben Fisk, who found himself straight on from outside the 18. The midfielder took advantage of the chance and scored his third of the season.

Trailing five minutes into the game, the Aztecs went to work and competed for the next 40, outshooting the Huskies, 8-3, the rest of the half. Of SDSU's eight shots, four came on net, and the defense held Washington to just one shot on goal (14:02) after its initial score. For the half as a whole, San Diego State held UW without a shot attempt for the final 28 minutes, 1 second.

The second half, however, was the opposite for SDSU as Washington controlled the tempo and ultimately outshot the Aztecs, 7-2, in the final 45. Despite being limited to just one shot on goal in the final frame, the San Diego State defense was solid in holding the Huskies to a pair of shots on goal. Unfortunately for the visitors, one of those two UW attempts on net tickled the nylon in the 68th minute.

Washington's insurance-goal sequence started when Pacheco spotted James Moberg. The midfielder, who just crossed the midfield line, fired a long shot and the ball found its way past SDSU goalkeeper Blake Hylen.

Two minutes later, Kevin Bick forced Husky goalkeeper Spencer Richey to make a save, but it ended up being the Aztecs' final shot of the game.

At the final horn, San Diego State was outshot by Washington, 11-10, and was edged in the corner-kick battle, 3-2.

Bick and Jordan Ongaro shared game-high honors with four shots apiece. Bick led all players with three shots on goal and Ongaro had two. John Pegg and Casey Meuser, meanwhile, each added one shot.

The Aztecs return to action on Sunday when they face Oregon State in Corvallis. The game is set for a 2 p.m. PT start and will be televised by the Pac-12 Networks.

MAN OF THE MATCH:
John Pegg is the Man of the Match after playing the entire 90 minutes and controlling the midfield. His effort helped the Aztecs outshoot the Huskies in the first half and kept San Diego State within striking distance the entire the contest.
