The San Diego State cross country team will begin its postseason Friday at the Mountain West Cross Country Championships in Las Vegas. The 6,000-meter women's race is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. PT at the Silver Bowl Park.

At last year's championships, the Aztecs finished in eighth place, behind this year's host UNLV. The team's best finish in recent years came in 2005 when SDSU took fifth.

San Diego State is coming off an incredible showing at the Titan Invitational in Fullerton, Calif., on Oct. 19. The Aztecs claimed the individual and team titles, the second meet this season SDSU has done so. On the year, the team has two first place, one second and one third place finishes. Senior Marianne Hogan notched her second individual crown at the Titan Invite, her second of the season and fourth of her career. The invite also saw 14 of the 15 San Diego State runners set 5K PR's.

Hogan has led the way for SDSU in four out of the five races in 2012 and earned the team's only Mountain West Athlete of the Week honor.

Freshman Laura Vazquez and senior Josefine Koskinen have finished either second or third for the Aztecs all season. Vazquez has won a race once and has three runner-up efforts to her credit. Koskinen, meanwhile, has finished in second once and recorded four third-place performances.

Other runners competing in the 6K race on Friday for San Diego State include Chelsea Kruthers, Jessica McCall, Rachel Roesgen and Hannah Sawatzki.

At last year's MW Championships, Hogan led the Aztecs with a 25th-place finish out of 68 runners in a 6K time of 22 minutes, 28.6 seconds. Koskinen also competed in the race, taking 53rd in 24:06.6.

Results and photos from the race will be posted at TheMWC.com following the meet.
