SAN DIEGO -
San Diego State looks to become bowl eligible for a third consecutive season and claim its sixth victory of the season on the earliest date in 19 years this Saturday when the Aztecs play host to UNLV at Qualcomm Stadium. Game time is set for 5 p.m. PT with television coverage provided by Time Warner Cable SportsNet and radio coverage on KOGO 95.7 FM & AM 600.
Last Saturday, the Aztecs ran their winning streak to three games, rallying from a 10-point fourth quarter deficit to defeat Nevada, 39-38, in overtime. San Diego State handed the Wolf Pack just its third loss in the last 22 home games behind backup quarterback Adam Dingwell. Dingwell, who entered the game in the first quarter when Ryan Katz suffered a season-ending fracture to his left ankle, was 14-of-23 with 177 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions. The sophomore, who entered the game with just two career completions, also rushed for 26 yards and led the Aztecs to four touchdowns and a game-tying field goal on the final play of regulation on SDSU's final five drives of the game.
The Aztecs also received stellar performances from the special teams unit. Chance Marden converted on all three of his field goal attempts, including a career long of 46 yards and a game-tying make from 35 yards at the end of regulation. Seamus McMorrow punted four times, averaging 52.5 yards and a net average of 41.5 yards.
San Diego State, which was picked to finish in fifth place in the preseason media poll, is looking to advance to a bowl game for a school-record third consecutive season and keep hope alive for the 19th conference championship in program history. The Aztecs are currently tied for second in the Mountain West, one game behind Boise State.
