SDSU Tied For Fourth After First Round In Las Vegas

In its final outing of the fall, the San Diego State women's golf team is tied for fourth place after the first round of the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown on Sunday. The Aztecs are 12-over 300 at the par-72, 6,261-yard Stallion Mountain course at the Stallion Mountain Golf Club in Las Vegas.

Senior Christine Wong led all SDSU golfers on Sunday, as she sits in a six-way tie for seventh place out of 96 golfers. Wong fired off a 1-over 73 through the first 18 holes of the three-day tournament. The Richmond, B.C., native is just three strokes out of first place.

Sophomore Amy Alston had a solid day-one effort with her 2-over 74. Alston finds herself tied for 13th place with nine other golfers in the tight race to the top of the leader board.

Aztec junior Maureen Dunnagan carded a 3-over 75 to tie for 23rd on Sunday. In the incredibly close race, only three strokes separate 23rd and third place.

Freshman Emma Henrikson was 6-over through her first nine holes, but then stayed even par over her final nine on the day to finish 6-over 78. In her first outing of the fall, junior Rebecca Schneider would shoot an 11-over 83 to tie for the 83rd spot.

Competing as an individual, sophomore Kristina Lynn notched a 13-over 85 to finish tied for 93rd after day one.

The second round of the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown will continue on Monday as early as 7:30 a.m. from both the first and 10th holes. Live results are available at golfstat.com.
