SAN DIEGO - In its final race before the Mountain West Championships, the San Diego State cross country team will travel to Fullerton, Calif., to compete in the Titan Invitational on Friday. The women's 5,000-meter race is scheduled to begin at the unusually late time of 4:45 p.m. PT.
Friday's race will be held on the campus of Cal State Fullerton with the start and finish both on the track. The course will loop around the grass recreation fields and the concrete and asphalt pathways around the Sports Complex. It consists of approximately 30 percent grass and 70 percent concrete and asphalt.
The Aztecs' last time out, senior Marianne Hogan led SDSU to a second place team finish on her way to claiming the individual crown at the UC San Diego Triton Classic. Hogan completed the 6,000-meter course in 22 minutes, 6.1 seconds, more than eight seconds ahead of the next collegiate runner. The Bedford, Quebec, native was awarded the Mountain West Cross Country Athlete of the Week for her performance.
Freshman Laura Vazquez and senior Josefine Koskinen finished in the top 20 at the meet, finishing fifth (22:30.7) and 20th (23:15.7), respectively. Also competing for SDSU was Chelsea Kruthers (28th, 23:36.4), Hannah Sawatzki (47th, 24:02.4), Rachel Roesgen (48th, 24:03.5), Jessica McCall (51st, 24:05.6), Katy Smith (97th, 24:53.1), Lily Mayko (111th, 25:04.3), Melissa Wendorf (149th, 25:47.5), Amanda Okun (153rd, 25:54.6) and Amy Reaser (173rd, 26:53.3).
San Diego State's Mountain West championship race will be held in Las Vegas on Oct. 26.
