Aztecs Fall To Boise State In Four Sets

BOISE, Idaho - San Diego State was unable to overcome a two-set deficit as it fell to Boise State, 3-1 (25-19, 25-22, 19-25, 25-22) Thursday night at Bronco Gym in Boise, Idaho. The loss ended a short two-match winning streak for the Aztecs who saw their record fall to 11-7 overall and 33- in the Mountain West. The Broncos, meanwhile, improved to 10-10 (2-3 MW).

For the third straight outing SDSU was led in kills by junior outside hitter Raegan Shelton, who ended the evening with 16 along with eight digs, two blocks and a service ace. Fellow Aztec Chaiymin recorded a career high with 15 kills and added five blocks and three digs to her final totals.

Senior Andrea Hannasch was the third SDSU player to end the night in double figures in kills as she tallied 11 with three blocks, four digs and a service ace.

Aztec libero Kristi Jackels contributed a season-high 26 assist as she led all players in that category while also dishing out four assists.

Boise State's Liz Harden and Alyssa Gammel led the Broncs in kills with 25 and 13 respectively as Gammel completed a double-double by adding 13 digs.

Although the teams finished with the same number of kills (58) and assists (54), the Broncos ended the match with a .213 hitting percentage compared to .172 for the Aztecs. SDSU led in total digs (80-72) and team blocks (10.5-8.0), but Boise State was able to come up with the big plays down the stretch to capture the match victory.

San Diego State now moves on to Colorado Springs where it will face conference foe Air Force on Saturday, Oct. 13, at 7:00 p.m. (MT) on Falcon Court.
