San Diego State (3-3; 1-1 MW) enters the second half of the season on Saturday when it entertains long-time rival Colorado State (1-5; 0-2 MW) at Qualcomm Stadium. Kickoff for the homecoming game is set for 3:30 p.m. PT. The game will be televised by Time Warner Cable SportsNet, with radio coverage provided by KOGO 95.7 FM & AM 600. Tickets, starting at $8, are available through the normal outlets, including GoAztecs.com, SDSU ticket office at Qualcomm Stadium and Ticketmaster.
Note the 3:30 p.m. PT kickoff time has changed from the original schedule time of 4 p.m. PT, released prior to the beginning of the season. The time change was made to accommodate television.
The Aztecs snapped a brief two-game losing streak with by dominating Hawai'i, 52-14, last Saturday at the Q. SDSU jumped out to a 21-0 lead and outgained the Warriors, 412-173, in the contest. The San Diego State defense forced three turnovers, held Hawai'i to 2-for-11 on third-down situations and limited the Warriors to 12 first downs in the game.
On offense, the Aztecs were balanced, rushing for 194 yards and five touchdowns and passing for 218, while playing turnover-free football for the third time this season. Senior quarterback Ryan Katz rushed for 57 yards and a career-high three touchdowns and was 15-of-29 for 190 yards and two scores through the air.
Colorado State is 1-5 on the season but played Fresno State close for much of the game last week before falling, 28-7. The Rams own a victory this season over Pac-12 member Colorado.
Saturday marks the 32nd all-time meeting between San Diego State and Colorado State as the two teams have have met in 20 of the previous 21 seasons (1998 is the exception). The Aztecs have won three straight in the series and six of the last seven encounters between the teams. Four of the last five games in the series have been decided by five points or less.
