Coming off a pair of disappointing losses, San Diego State (2-3; 0-1 MW) returns home to Qualcomm Stadium for the first of a two-game homestand against Hawai'i (1-3; 0-1 MW) on Saturday afternoon at 5 p.m. PT. Following the game, the annual KGB SkyShow will take place. This marks the ninth consecutive season the fireworks spectacular has taken place following an Aztec game, with the previous eight games averaging a crowd of 51,090. The game will be televised by CBS Sports Network, with radio coverage provided by KOGO 95.7 FM & AM 600.
San Diego State suffered its second consecutive loss, a 52-40 decision at Fresno State last Saturday night. The Aztecs led 14-0 and later rallied from a 13-point deficit to take a 40-36 lead midway through the third quarter. After committing just two turnovers in the last three games combined, the Aztecs were plagued by five turnovers against the Bulldogs, which led to 24 Fresno State points.
Hawai'i suffered its second straight loss, a 47-0 decision at Brigham Young last Friday night. The Warriors are playing their second game in a stretch that has them on the road four times in a five-game period. The lone home contest for UH comes next week against New Mexico.
The Aztecs and Warriors are meeting for the 27th time with San Diego State owning a 15-9-2 series lead. Hawai'i has claimed the last two encounters, both in Honolulu, including a 49-38 decision to end the 2005 campaign. This marks the first appearance by the Warriors in Qualcomm Stadium since 1998, the Aztecs' final season in the Western Athletic Conference. San Diego State won that contest by a 35-13 score.
