2012 FALL SCHEDULE

The San Diego State softball team has released its 2012 fall exhibition schedule, head coach Kathy Van Wyk announced today. For the seventh consecutive season, all of the Aztecs' fall games will be played at SDSU Softball Stadium.

The nine-game slate is highlighted by the Oct. 26 contest against the National Pro Fastpitch All-Stars. It will be the third consecutive year that SDSU will host Team NPF, which is comprised of athletes from the four NPF teams - Akron Racers, Carolina Diamonds, Chicago Bandits and USSSA Florida Pride - and includes an accomplished list of competitors. Over its two-year history of the NPF Back to School Tour, the team of professional all-stars has posted a 41-1 record with its lone loss coming at Oklahoma on last year's fall tour. The Sooners ended up finishing runner-up at the 2012 Women's College World Series.

To purchase tickets to the San Diego State-NPF All-Stars game on Oct. 26, order online at GoAztecs.com, call (619) 283-7378 or visit the Aztec Ticket Office at Qualcomm Stadium Window "E." The ticket office is open from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Tickets must be purchased in advance as there will be no will call.

Admission to the rest of the team's fall games is free.

SDSU kicks off its fall schedule on Saturday, Sept. 22 with its annual Alumni Game at 11 a.m. PT.

San Diego State then plays host to Southwestern CC on Wednesday, Sept. 26 at 2:30 p.m. PT, Santa Ana CC on Saturday, Sept. 29 at 1 p.m. PT and Grossmont CC on Friday, Oct. 5 at 2 p.m. PT.

The Aztecs continue their fall play with a pair of round-robin gamedays over the next two weeks. The first round robin day is Saturday, Oct. 13, where SDSU will play San Diego Christian College at 9 a.m. PT and Concordia College at 2 p.m. PT. Sandwiched in between the two games is SDCC and Concordia at 11:30 a.m. PT.

The following Saturday (Oct. 20), San Diego State will meet San Diego at 9 a.m. PT and Cal State San Marcos at 2 p.m. PT, while USD and CSUSM will play in the middle game at 11:30 a.m. PT.

The Aztecs conclude their fall schedule with the game against the NPF All-Stars on Friday, Oct. 26 at 7 p.m. PT.

SDSU is coming off a 32-24 season in 2012, advancing to the NCAA tournament for a school-record fifth consecutive year and capturing its fifth Mountain West title. San Diego State went 2-2 in the NCAA Los Angeles Regional before being eliminated in the regional championship game for the second straight year, falling just short of the NCAA Super Regionals (equivalent to the Sweet 16). The Aztecs finished with single-season program records in slugging percentage (.466), doubles (79), home runs (58), RBIs (237) and total bases (692), and received votes in both national polls.
