TULSA, Okla. - San Diego State men's tennis players Thorsten Bertsch and Hunter Nicholas each had a solid Saturday at the ITA All-American as they advanced to the third round of pre-qualifying. Both will have a chance to move on to the qualifying round with wins on Sunday.

Bertsch opened play for SDSU as he defeated SMU's Mischa Nowicki, 7-6, 6-1, in the second round after earning a first round bye. The Mannheim, Germany, native will face Andre Vidaller of Arizona on Sunday at 9 a.m. CT.

Nicholas, meanwhile, knocked off Vanderbilt's Rhys Michael-Johnson by the score of 6-2, 7-5. The Park City, Utah, native then earned a 6-3, 7-5 victory against Tomislav Gregurovic of Wichita State to advance to a third round matchup on Sunday at 9 a.m. CT with Texas A&M's Harrison Adams.

Derek Siddiqui was the last Aztec to see action as rain delayed his second round matchup to late in the afternoon. The Long Beach, Calif., native earned a first round bye and then faced off with Sacramento State's Aliaksandr Malko. Siddiqui won the first set 6-3, but was unable to advance as he dropped the next two sets by a score of 6-3, 6-2.
