SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State women's golf team resumes its fall schedule on Monday, as the Aztecs compete in the Fourth Annual Golfweek Conference Challenge at the Red Sky Golf Club, Sept. 24-26, in Wolcott, Colo., at the par-72, 6,236-yard Tom Fazio course. No. 48 SDSU will be one of 18 schools competing in the tournament. Along with host and No. 44 Denver, the field consists of seven other ranked squads: No. 1 UCLA, No. 25 Oklahoma, No. 26 Pepperdine, No. 29 Florida State, No. 31 UC Davis, No. 37 Tulsa and No. 38 Ole Miss. The remaining teams include Campbell, East Tennessee State, Furman, Georgia State, Missouri State, Nebraska, San Jose State, University of Texas at San Antonio and USF.
Oklahoma won the team championship and the Sooners' Chirapat Jao-Javanil won the individual championship in last year's event.
Second-year head coach Leslie Spalding will use the same starting lineup from last week, including seniors Christine Wong (Richmond, B.C.) and Gina Clark (Murrieta, Calif.), junior Maureen Dunnagan (Lexington, S.C.), sophomore Kristina Lynn (Carlsbad, Calif.) and freshman Emma Henrikson (Malmö Sweden).
The Aztecs are coming off a tie for 13th-place at the season-opening 33rd Annual Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M. SDSU carded a 54-hole total of 43-over (919) at the par-73, 6,187-yard UNM Championship Golf Course.
In Henrikson's collegiate debut, she led the Aztecs as she finished in a tie for 25th with an overall score of 5-over 224, while Wong tied for 39th with a 10-over 229. In Lynn's SDSU debut, she finished in a tie for 49th at 13-over (232).
After the trip to Colorado, SDSU will travel to Sahalee Country Club in Seattle, Wash., for the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational from Oct. 8-10.
