FULLERTON, Calif. - San Diego State concluded play at the 2012 Fullerton Classic with a three-set (25-11, 25-14, 25-12) victory over Brown Saturday evening at Titan Gym after having dropped a four-set decision to Oregon State earlier in the day. After splitting a pair of matches for the second straight day, SDSU finished the tournament with a 2-2 record, the Aztecs' ledger stands at 8-4 as it wrapped up its Mountain West Conference preseason slate.

SDSU needed just over an hour to dispose of Brown as it got a match-high 11 kills along with two blocks, six digs and a service ace from junior outside hitter Raegan Shelton. Shelton, who averaged 3.71 kills and 2.57 digs per set over the day's two matches, was named to the all-tournament team as well.

Emily Harris recorded seven blocks against the Bears as SDSU totaled 12.5 team blocks to just three by Brown. Aztec outside hitter Michelle Waber added eight kills along with four blocks.

San Diego State hit .360 over the three sets against the Bears while holding them to a -.025 hitting percentage and recorded 42 kills to just 19 by Brown.

In the loss to Oregon State (26-24, 20-25, 19-25, 19-25) early Saturday afternoon, The Aztecs captured an opening set that went to extra points. Kills by Waber and Shelton gave SDSU the 26-24 victory, but the rest of the match belonged to the Beavers.

The second set saw the Aztecs trail by one (18-17) late only to see OSU score four straight to take control down the stretch. The Beavers opened a wide lead late in the third set at 20-13 and cruised to the six-point win. Set number four again saw San Diego State stay close, but trailing 18-16 it gave up four consecutive points as the Beavers went on to capture the match victory.

Shelton led the Aztecs with 15 kills and added 12 digs to register her first double-double of the season. She also added a service ace and a trio of blocks to her stat line for the contest.

Summer Nash finished the match with 14 kills along with seven digs and a block while Andrea Hannasch contribute eight kills, seven blocks, three service aces and a pair of digs.

San Diego State will now prepare for its 2012 Mountain West opener which will take place on Saturday, Sept. 22, when the Aztecs travel to Reno to face conference newcomer Nevada at 7:00 p.m.
