SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Crew Back East To Compete in Dad Vail Regatta The San Diego State crew team will have a pair of entries competing this weekend (Friday-Saturday, May 11-12) at the prestigious Aberdeen Dad Vail Regatta The event, which has been held since 1934, is the largest collegiate regatta in the United States and is being contested on the Schuykill River in Philadelphia this weekend.

In the Varsity Eight Division, the Aztecs will compete in heat six (of six) at noon on Friday (May 11) against George Mason, Sacramento State, Jacksonville and William & Mary. The Aztec crew for the Varsity Eight will include Emma Peck (coxswain), Sarah Gannon (stroke), Chelsee Brewster (seven), Kate Raymond (six), Emily Walton (five), Vivianna Smith (four), Marissa Shaw (three), Sophie Poser (two) and Romaine Desclos (bow).

The top two finishers in that heat will advance straight to Saturday's (May 12) semifinals round which will consist of three heats from 10:27 to 10:37. The boats that finish third through fifth in SDSU's inaugural heat will move on to the repechage heats Friday afternoon (4:12-4:22) with the top two boats in those three heats also advancing to the semis. The top two finishers in each semifinal heat will move on to the finals scheduled for 4:20 p.m. Saturday afternoon as the teams will compete for the Evelyn Bergman Trophy.

San Diego State's Junior Varsity Eight boat will row in its prelim heat at 5:27 Friday evening against Buffalo, Bucknell and Purdue. The top two finishers in that race will advance to Saturday's final scheduled for 2:30 p.m. The Junior Varsity Eight boats will compete for the Coleman D. Boylan Trophy with SDSU's crew made up of Jennifer Miller (coxswain), Lindsay Miller (stroke), Chandler Cole (seven), Rae Backens (six), Peggy Tio (five), Darian Kimball (four), Kaitlyn Goss (three), Alex Accornero (two) and Erica Orgon (bow).
