The San Diego State lacrosse team couldn't stop Denver's 10-game winning streak in a 19-6 loss Monday at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium in Denver. The Aztecs dropped to 4-9 with the loss and 1-4 in MPSF play, while the Pioneers upped their record to 10-1 and 4-0.

Kelly Jones, Sophie Koubek, Lauren Maack, Falon Manns, Jackie Mills and Meris Walsh each scored goals for SDSU, which was outshot, 36-21, in the game. Bailey Ewing and Christina Ricciardulli added one assist apiece.

Walsh led San Diego State with four shots, while Madison Wallace had a team-high three ground balls, Ricciardulli chipped in with a team-best four draw controls and Nicole Pullano led the visitors with three caused turnovers, to go along with two ground balls and two draw controls.

Sammy Slattery played all 60 minutes in net and made 19 saves.

The Aztecs jumped out to a 2-1 lead less than five minutes in behind back-to-back goals by Maack and Mills. Denver answered with nine straight goals over a span of 16:37 before Jones scored off a pass by Ewing with 7:56 left in the first half. The two teams traded goals as the Pioneers took a commanding 11-4 lead into halftime.

Denver scored the first three goals of the second half until Manns responded on a free-position shot with 17:20 remaining to cut the lead to 14-5. The Pioneers scored the next five goals before Walsh scored the final goal of the game on a free-position shot with 35 seconds left.

SDSU finished with four (12-8) more ground balls than Denver, while the Pioneers won the draw control battle, 16-11.

San Diego State closes out its regular season this weekend with league contests against Saint Mary's at 4 p.m. PT Friday and Stanford at 1 p.m. PT Sunday.
