Meet the Aztecs! This spring we'll introduce you to the Aztec Rowing Team so that you can learn more about each athlete's personality, background, and life at San Diego State University. This week's athletes are Courtney Siemsen and Chandler Cole.

Courtney Siemsen
Coxswain, Sophomore (Recruited walk-on)

What is your favorite class?
Psychology 101. My professor is extremely knowledgeable.

What is your favorite restaurant in San Diego?
My favorite restaurant is Deli 4.0. It's close to campus and very good, yet healthy.

What is your favorite thing to do in San Diego?
My favorite thing to do in San Diego is going to the beach to surf.

What is your favorite thing about Aztec Athletics?
My favorite thing about Aztec Athletics is the Nike gear and free tutoring and counseling.

Why did you choose SDSU?
It's far away, yet close enough to home, close to the beach, and a perfect spot to find who you are!

What is your favorite aspect about Aztec Rowing?
Being a part of a team and being able to have an "athlete family" on campus.

Chandler Cole
Rower, Freshman (Recruit from Long Beach Junior Crew)

What is your favorite class?
Psych 101. It was very interesting. I had an awesome professor and learned a lot about myself and others.

What is your favorite restaurant in San Diego?
The Olive Café is my favorite restaurant. It's right by our boathouse and has an AMAZING breakfast for after practice on Saturday mornings.

What is your favorite thing to do in San Diego?
Walking around downtown is a lot of fun and there is so much to see - from Petco Park to Seaport Village to Gaslamp, it's all so pretty!

What is your favorite thing about Aztec Athletics?
There is so much support everywhere. If you need academic help, the mentors and advisors are there. The athletic training center is also very helpful. And the free laundry can't be beat.

Why did you choose SDSU?
When I visited, I couldn't get over how gorgeous the campus was. I really liked the environment and vibe I got from the students here. I knew SDSU had the most to offer me.

What does your busiest day look like?
Last semester, I had a day where I had morning practice, 2 classes, ergs, 2 more classes and team study hall back-to-back. It was hard, but I was always relieved and had a feeling of accomplishment when it was done.
