SAN DIEGO -

SDSU 5, USD 0

Senior Bailey Micetich (Woodland, Calif.) tossed a complete game one-hit shutout to lift the San Diego State softball team to a 5-0 victory over San Diego Wednesday night at USD Softball Complex. The Aztecs improved to 22-19 with their fourth consecutive victory and 51-3 all-time against the Toreros (23-14).

Micetich (10-6) didn't give up a hit over the first 6 1/3 innings until Chloe Kaneko singled past the diving SDSU sophomore shortstop Hayley Miles (Antelope, Calif.) with one out in the seventh. Micetich, who was named the Mountain West Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday for her performance in a series sweep over Colorado State last weekend, retired the next two in order for her second career one-hitter (also April 5, 2009 vs. UNLV). She struck out nine in the game without issuing a walk.

Miles got San Diego State on the scoreboard on the third pitch of the game when she drilled a 1-1 pitch over the left-center field fence. It was the 10th home run of the season and second to lead off the game for Miles, who already has a school-record 27 extra-base hits (10 homers, two triples and 15 doubles). She also extended her reaches base safely streak to 28 games and her hitting streak to 10 contests.

In the second, the Aztecs loaded the bases with no outs on a single by senior Felicia Reifschneider (San Diego/Morse HS), a walk by Miles and a single by freshman Kayla Jordan (San Diego/Bonita Vista HS). SDSU was only able to get one run across the plate, however, as Reifschneider scored on a sacrifice fly by sophomore Lorena Klopp (San Diego/Steele Canyon HS) on a play that also got Miles out on a rundown between second and third base. Senior Justeen Maeva (San Diego/Mira Mesa HS) then grounded out to third base on a hard-hit ball to end the inning.

SDSU tacked on two more runs in the fifth when Maeva singled home Miles and freshman Jacki Campa (La Verne, Calif.) later scored from third on a wild pitch.

San Diego State ended the scoring in the seventh when Jordan scored on a single by Klopp.

Miles was 3-for-3 with a homer, two runs, an RBI and a walk to raise her batting average to .420 on the season. Klopp (1-for-3) drove in a pair of runs, Maeva (RBI) and Jordan (R, SB) each went 2-for-4, and Reifschneider (1-for-3) singled, scored and stole a base. Senior Ashley Rose (Antioch, Calif.) and redshirt sophomore Patrice Jackson (Kansas City, Mo.) each drew a walk for the Aztecs, who improved to 15-3 this season when outhitting their opponent.

SDSU travels to Albuquerque, N.M., for a key three-game series at New Mexico, beginning with Friday's game at 6 p.m. MT. Saturday's game at 3 p.m. MT (2 p.m. PT) will be broadcast live on The Mtn., while Sunday's game is slated for a 1 p.m. MT start.

NOTES: With the leadoff home run and two singles, SS Hayley Miles (104) broke Kellie Nordhagen's SDSU single-season total bases record of 102, set in 2000, with at least 11 games still left to play ... Miles also scored her 40th and 41st runs of the season, which ties Tiffany Goudy's school-record set in 2002. The 41 runs are 25 more than the next Aztec (CF Felicia Reifschneider (16)) ... RHP Bailey Micetich's last one-hitter on April 5, 2009 also saw San Diego State win by a 5-0 decision. In that game played in Las Vegas, Nev., Micetich allowed a fifth-inning bloop single, while striking out seven and walking one ... The last no-hitter in school history was March 28, 2007, when former SDSU great Christina Ross threw a five-inning, perfect game against Brown ... The Aztecs' four-game winning streak is tied for the team's longest of the season (also Feb. 17-18 and March 4-9) ... San Diego State improved to 14-3 when scoring five or more runs, 11-3 when scoring in the first inning, 16-7 when scoring first and 16-4 when leading after five innings.
