SAN DIEGO - Sophomore Hayley Miles (Antelope, Calif.) went a combined 4-for-7 with a homer and five RBIs to lift the San Diego State softball team to a doubleheader sweep over Colorado State Saturday at SDSU Softball Stadium. The Aztecs (20-19, 2-0 MW) won the opener, 4-3, over the Rams (19-20, 0-2 MW) and took the nightcap, 6-5.

Miles had a three-run home run, a triple, a walk and two runs for SDSU, which banged out 20 hits over the two games. She has now reached base safely in 26 consecutive games and has a hit in each of her last eight contests.

Redshirt sophomore Patrice Jackson (Kansas City, Mo.) was 4-for-6 with three doubles and freshman Kayla Jordan (San Diego/Bonita Vista HS) went 3-for-5 with two runs and two walks. Senior Ashley Rose (Antioch, Calif.) (2-for-6) and junior Kristin May (Corona, Calif.) (1-for-4) added two RBIs apiece.

In the circle, senior Bailey Micetich (Woodland, Calif.) and redshirt junior Rebecca Arbino (Clovis, Calif.) each earned a win and a save over a combined 13 1/3 innings. Junior Kamerin May (Corona, Calif.) pitched the other 2/3 innings without allowing a run.

In the opener, San Diego State jumped out to a 4-0 lead after four innings before CSU rallied with three scores in the top of the seventh to close the gap. Arbino (9-8), however, got Alyssa Greckel to ground out to junior second baseman Tiffany Corder (San Clemente, Calif./UC Santa Barbara) to give the Aztecs the MW opening win.

Jackson was 3-for-3 with three doubles, while Miles was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, a triple and a walk and senior Felicia Reifschneider (San Diego/Morse HS) finished 2-for-2 with a run scored.

Micetich (9-6) got the win after allowing three runs (two earned) on nine hits and a walk over 6 1/3 innings. She struck out six. Arbino gave up one hit in 2/3 innings to pick up her fourth save of the season.

In the nightcap, Miles capped a four-run fifth inning with a three-run homer to help SDSU to the 6-5 win. Miles was 2-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs, while Jordan (run, walk) and Rose (double, RBI) each were 2-for-3.

Arbino picked up the win after surrendering five runs on 11 hits and a walk, while striking out four. May bridged the gap by allowing two hits and a walk over 2/3 innings. Micetich then tossed a perfect inning with one strikeout to get her first save of the year.
