SANTEE, Calif. - The San Diego State softball lost a pair of games Saturday at the San Diego Classic I in Santee, Calif. The Aztecs (11-11) first fell to Saint Joseph's, 3-1, and then dropped a 5-2 decision to Nevada in the nightcap.

SDSU only had 10 hits over the doubleheader, including three by redshirt sophomore Patrice Jackson (Kansas City, Mo.).

In the opener, Jackson was 2-for-2 with a sacrifice bunt in San Diego State's 3-1 loss to the Hawks (5-6). Sophomore Lorena Klopp (San Diego/Steele Canyon HS) drove in classmate Hayley Miles (Antelope, Calif.) in the top of the sixth inning for the Aztecs' only run. Miles added a double, while senior Ashley Rose (Antioch, Calif.) and freshman Kaitlin Connors (San Diego/La Costa Canyon HS) added singles.

Junior Kamerin May (Corona, Calif.) took the loss, no thanks to four SDSU errors. May (2-5) allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits over three innings. Redshirt junior Rebecca Arbino (Clovis, Calif./Texas A&M) pitched the final three innings and gave up a run on four hits and a walk, while striking out two.

In the nightcap, San Diego State jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the third when senior Justeen Maeva (San Diego/Mira Mesa HS) singled home junior Tiffany Corder (San Clemente, Calif./UC Santa Barbara) and Miles. The Aztecs, however, only got two more runners on base the rest of the way and the Wolf Pack (5-13) scored five unanswered runs en route to the 5-2 victory.

Maeva and Corder each singled and were hit by a pitch, while Miles and Jackson added singles.

Arbino (4-4) was saddled with the loss after giving up three runs on six hits and two walks over six innings. She had five strikeouts. May replaced Arbino in the seventh and allowed two runs on two hits and a walk.

SDSU wraps up its play in the San Diego Classic I Sunday with a game against Long Beach State at 11:30 a.m. PT.
