STOCKTON, Calif. - The San Diego State softball team split at pair of games at the Libby Matson Tournament Friday in Stockton, Calif. The Aztecs (17-17) defeated Princeton, 3-2, in nine innings in the opener before falling to host Pacific, 3-1, to close out the night.

In the opener, sophomore Hayley Miles (Antelope, Calif.) hit a walkoff single in the bottom of the ninth inning that scored redshirt freshman Wendy Tamayo (San Diego/Mater Dei Catholic HS) to give SDSU the 3-2 win.

Miles reached base safely in all five of her plate appearances, going 4-for-4 with a home run, a double, a run, a walk and all three RBIs. Miles walked in the first, hit a two-run homer in the third, singled in the fourth, doubled in the seventh and hit the game-winning single in the ninth.

Seniors Justeen Maeva (San Diego/Mira Mesa HS) and Felicia Reifschneider (San Diego/Morse HS), and junior Kristin May (Corona, Calif.) also had hits for San Diego State, while senior Ashley Rose (Antioch, Calif.) drew two walks.

Redshirt junior Rebecca Arbino (Clovis, Calif./Texas A&M) got the win after allowing one hit in 2 2/3 innings of relief. Senior Bailey Micetich (Woodland, Calif.) started and gave up two runs on seven hits and two walks over 6 1/3 innings. She struck out five.to become the fifth Aztec with 500 career strikeouts.

In the nightcap, Nikki Armagost was too much for SDSU as she went 3-for-3 with a double and a three-run homer at the plate and allowed just one run in a complete game victory in the circle to give the host Tigers (16-10) a 3-1 win.

Sophomore Katie Mathis (Grass Valley, Calif.) had two hits - a double and a bases loaded RBI single - and Miles singled to extend her reach base safely streak to 21 games. Maeva, Rose and redshirt sophomore Patrice Jackson (Kansas City, Mo.) also singled for San Diego State.

Arbino (8-7) took the loss after surrendering three runs on 10 hits and a walk over six innings. She struck out three.

The Aztecs wrap up their play in the Libby Matson Tournament Saturday with a doubleheader against Saint Mary's. The first game is slated for 11 a.m. PT with the second game set for 1:15 p.m. PT.
