SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The San Diego State rowing team had mixed results in five races against Sacramento State and UC Davis Saturday morning on Lake Natoma near Sacramento. The Aztecs finished second in four of the five events.
In the Varsity 8, both Sacramento State and UC Davis cross the finish line in 6:48.5 with SDSU 10 seconds behind. The Second Varsity 8 race involved just two boats with Sac State capturing first place and the Aztecs 17 second behind.
In the Novice 8 event, Sac State took the top spot by seven second over the Aztecs, who in turn edged UC Davis by two seconds. The Second Novice 8 race saw UC Davis edge the Aztecs by just 0.3 second while Sacramento State crossed the line 10 seconds after SDSU.
In the final race of the meet, the Varsity 4, Sacramento State won by just 13 seconds over the Aztec in the two-boat event.
Up next for the San Diego State rowers is the annual San Diego crew Classic scheduled for the weekend of March 31-April 1 on mission Bay in San Diego.
