SAN DIEGO - The 12th-ranked SDSU men's golf team plays its second tournament this week, traveling to Tucson, Ariz., for the National Invitational Tournament, March 16-17. The 54-hole event will be played at the par-72, 7,094-yard Omni Tucson National Golf Course and begins each day at 8 a.m. MST.

San Diego State will be joined by Arizona, Army, BYU, Hawaii, Memphis, Northern Colorado, Northern Iowa, SMU, UNLV, UTEP and Wyoming. Tulsa won last year's event, while Arizona's Jonathan Khan was the medalist at 6-under 210. SDSU has found great success on the same course in its last two trips, winning both the Mountain West championship and the NCAA regional in 2011.

Head coach Ryan Donovan will bring seven golfers with him to Tucson, including seniors J.J. Spaun (San Dimas, Calif.), Alex Kang (Oak Park, Calif.), and Colin Featherstone (Fallbrook, Calif.) and junior Tom Berry (New Haw, England). Freshman Wilson Bateman (Edmonton, Alberta) and newcomer Cameron Tennant (Woodland Hills, Calif.) will both compete as individuals. Featherstone is making his first appearance in the team's starting five this season.

The Aztecs have been on a roll this spring, having won both the team and individual titles at each of their last two tournaments, the North Ranch Intercollegiate in Westlake Village, Calif., and the Farms Collegiate Invite in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif., on Tuesday.

Live scoring will be available for both days of the National Invitational Tournament at www.golfstat.com.
