Meet the Aztecs! This spring we'll introduce you to the Aztec Rowing Team so that you can learn more about each athletes personality, background, and life at San Diego State University. This week's athletes are walk-on novice rowers Raquel Biddle and Brittany Harris.
Raquel Biddle (Walk-on Novice)
What is your favorite restaurant in San Diego?
The Palm. It is located in the heart of downtown next to Petco Park and their food is so good. I love the lobster and steaks.
What is your favorite thing about Aztec Athletics?
The pride and work ethic all the athletes have. We all support each other.
What is your favorite aspect about Aztec Rowing?
We all work together to form a big family and strong team.
Why did you choose SDSU?
When I first came to visit San Diego State University, I asked myself if I could see myself here and the answer was a definite yes!
What does your busiest day look like?
On Fridays, I have practice on the water at 6 am. My first class is at 10am followed by weights at 11am. I have another class at noon and then I take an hour for lunch. After lunch, I have my final class at 2pm and I finish off the day at work from 3:30 to 9:30pm.
Brittany Harris (Walk-on Novice)
What is your favorite on-campus hangout?
West Commons because it's the closest common area to athletics and after practice and it has food, Starbucks, and it's an overall great place to hangout.
What is your favorite restaurant in San Diego?
I found a place in downtown/Little Italy called Café Zucchero that was AMAZING, I recommend it.
What is your favorite thing to do in San Diego?
You can't beat going to the gym or tanning, shopping, hanging out downtown, or going camping in Carlsbad.
What is your favorite aspect about Aztec Rowing?
I have a few; being with a great group of girls, getting a chance to see the most amazing sunrises on the water, and the feeling I get while rowing, which is unlike anything I've ever experienced.
Why did you choose SDSU?
Because SDSU is close enough to home, yet far enough. I LOVE San Diego and have always wanted to attend school here. I love campus, the gym and our athletic department.
