COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - San Diego State divers Kristen Meier and Anna Steiner have qualified to participate at the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships to be held March 15-17 at Auburn University. The duo advance to the national championships based on their overall performances at this past weekend's Zone E meet held at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs.

In Thursday's 1-meter competition, Meier advanced to the finals and finished 14th of 44 divers while Steiner captured 20th place.

In the 3-meter event on Friday, Meier finished third with a two-round total (prelims and finals) of 640.80 with Steiner right behind her in fourth (621.95). Steiner's score of 311.95 in the finals round was a career high and ranks as the second-best score ever for an Aztec diver on the board.

On the platform, Meier finished eighth with a mark of 239.05 for her five dives in the prelims. Steiner, meanwhile, was 17th with a prelims score of 207.40.

Meier is a senior from Walden, N.Y. while Steiner (Seattle, Wash.) is completing her sophomore season at SDSU.

A total of eight female divers earned their way to the national championships during the Zone E meet.. San Diego State was the only school with more than one diver to move on to the NCAA Championships.
