SAN DIEGO - No. 5 San Diego State hits the road for a pair of games this week at third-ranked USC and No. 8 UC Irvine. The Aztecs and Women of Troy will engage in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation game on Friday night at 5 p.m. PT. Then on Saturday, SDSU will step out of league play and face the Anteaters on Saturday at 1 p.m. PT.
The Aztecs (11-4, 0-2 MPSF) are coming off a 12-3 loss at No. 6 Arizona State on Saturday. The loss to the Sun Devils came six days after San Diego State defeated ASU, 9-8, at the UC Irvine Invitational en route to a fifth-place finish.
SDSU's fifth-place effort at the UCI Invitational helped propel it to a No. 5 ranking, which was four spots higher than its ranking heading into the elite 16-team tournament.
The meeting with Southern California will be the first of the season for both teams. The game with UCI, however, will represent the second meeting of the season between the Anteaters and Aztecs. UC Irvine got the better of San Diego State that day, winning 9-8, at the UCSD Triton Invitational on Feb. 12.
The two games this week will conclude SDSU's seven-game road trip. San Diego State will return home on Thursday, March 15, when Hawai'i pays a visit to Aztec Aquaplex. The MPSF game is set for a 3 p.m. PT start.
