BOULDER CITY, NEV. - The 45th-ranked San Diego State women's golf team is in third place Monday after 36 holes of the UNLV Spring Invitational in Boulder City, Nev. The Aztecs held off 48th-ranked and fourth-place Louisville by one stroke with a 26-over 602, but trails second place and host UNLV by 16 strokes at the par-72, 6,272-yard Cascata Golf Club.

The Aztecs received solid performances from their two veteran leaders in senior Malin Enarsson (Gothenburg, Sweden) and junior Christine Wong (Richmond, B.C.). Enarsson is currently in a six-way tie for fourth place at 3-over 147, including an opening 1-under 71, highlighted by three consecutive birdies on the second through fourth holes. Enarsson's 71 put her in a tie for second place through 18 holes, but she slipped just slightly in the afternoon with a 76.

Wong, meanwhile, began the tournament with an even-par 72, before carding a 77 in the second round to tie for 12th place with a 149. Junior Alessia Knight (Bologna, Italy) is the third Aztec in the top 25 with her 7-over 151 to tie for 21st place. Junior Gina Clark (Murrieta, Calif.) opened the day with a strong effort of 4-over 76, but ran into some trouble in the second round with three double bogeys and a triple bogey to drop from 19th into 29th with a 155.

Freshman Amy Alston (Mission Viejo, Calif.) finished out the San Diego State contingent in a tie for 51st at 19-oer 163.

Seventeenth-ranked Arizona leads the field by three strokes with a 36-hole total of 7-over 583. Wildcat Nikki Koller is the top golfer with her 1-over 145.

The final 18 holes will begin at 8 a.m. PT on Tuesday morning with a shotgun start. Live results are available on golfstat.com.
