SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State softball team picked up back-to-back victories over Central Florida and UC Davis on the second day of the 22nd annual Campbell/Cartier Classic Saturday at SDSU Softball Stadium. The Aztecs (7-3) knocked off the Knights (4-4), 3-2, and the Aggies (2-5), 3-0, and have now won four consecutive games.

SDSU, which is receiving votes in the latest ESPN.com/USA Softball poll, continued its power surge, homering three times over the two games, and got a pair of solid outings from its pitchers in the sweep.

In the opener, sophomore Lorena Klopp (San Diego/Steele Canyon HS) and freshman Fiana Finau (San Diego/Hilltop HS) hit back-to-back home runs to lead off the bottom of the second inning, and sophomore Hayley Miles (Antelope, Calif.) later added an RBI single that scored classmate Katie Mathis (Grass Valley, Calif.) to give San Diego State all the runs it would need in the 3-2 win over UCF.

Junior Kamerin May (Corona, Calif.) started in the circle for the Aztecs and allowed two runs on seven hits and a walk over five innings. She struck out three to improve to 2-2 on the season before giving way to redshirt junior Rebecca Arbino (Clovis, Calif./Texas A&M). Arbino pitched a scoreless two innings of relief, giving up one hit and one walk, while striking out three to pick up her second save of the season.

In the nightcap, senior Bailey Micetich (Woodland, Calif.) struck out 12 in a complete game shutout to lead SDSU past UCD, 3-0. The 12 strikeouts were the second most of her career (13 vs. Utah State on Feb. 12, 2009) and her fifth double-digit strikeout game (first since 2009). She gave up just four singles without issuing a walk.

Miles led off the game with a homer and also reached on a single and a walk to pace the offense. Senior Justeen Maeva (San Diego/Mira Mesa HS) and sophomore Patrice Jackson (Kansas City, Mo.) also added RBIs for San Diego State.

The Aztecs wrap up their play in the Campbell/Cartier Classic Sunday with a game against No. 12/8 UCLA at 2 p.m. PT.
